The main purpose of optical fiber inspection is to ensure the quality of the system connection, to reduce the failure factors and to find the fault point of the optical fiber when the fault occurs. There are many detection methods, which are mainly divided into artificial simple measurement and precision instrument measurement.
1. Artificial simple measurement:
This method is generally used to quickly detect the on-off of an optical fiber and to discriminate the optical fiber during construction. It uses a simple light source to drive visible light from one end of the fiber, and from the other end to see which light is shining. Although this method is simple, it cannot quantitatively measure the attenuation of the fiber and the breakpoint of the fiber.
2. Precision instrument measurement:
Using an optical power meter or optical time domain reflectometry (OTDR) to quantitatively measure the fiber, the attenuation of the fiber and the attenuation of the joint can be measured, and even the break point of the fiber can be measured. This measurement can be used to quantify the causes of fiber network failures and evaluate fiber network products.
