Mobile Base Station Antenna Feeder
The antenna feeder chain decides VSWR, uplink sensitivity and cell radius. 50Ω corrugated copper tube cable is used for the main run, pre-terminated jumpers bridge the RRU and antenna, and N-type or 7/16 DIN connectors join the tower-top and equipment-room ends. PTL supplies the complete set — feeder, jumper and connector — with VSWR checked batch by batch.

How the link is put together
The main run from the equipment room to the tower top, typically 30–100 m, dominates the total insertion loss of the chain.
7/8" or 1-5/8" corrugated copper tube for low loss and high shielding; 1/2" where the run is short or the RRU sits close to the antenna.
A 1/2" super-flexible jumper covers the last 2–5 m, with a tight bend radius for routing between the pole and the antenna back panel.
N male or 7/16 DIN, factory-fitted or field-installed, with weatherproof tape and grounding at the joint.
What to specify
Fill these in and any supplier can quote the same basis — which is exactly why we publish them.

Questions we get asked
How do I choose between 1/2" and 7/8" feeder?
Work from run length and band. Under 30 m at 2.6 GHz or below, 1/2" is enough; beyond 30 m, or at 3.5 GHz, 7/8" cuts attenuation by roughly 40% and leaves more headroom. Send us the length, band and loss budget and we will work it back from the dB/100 m curve.
Are jumpers factory-assembled or field-terminated?
Factory-assembled is recommended. Each pre-terminated jumper is VSWR-tested before shipping with a record attached, and the site work is limited to tightening and weatherproofing. Field termination depends on tools and technique and is the most common cause of failed VSWR.
Can you provide VSWR test reports?
Yes. Assembled jumpers ship with batch test records; feeders can be sampled per project with vector network analyser data. Tell us at order stage if a third-party report is required.
