Policy | MIIT Releases ICT 15th Five-Year Plan, Accelerating 5G-A and 6G

2026-09-28

On September 7, 2026, China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released the 15th Five-Year Plan for the information and communications industry, targeting a fully built, leading next-generation communications network by 2030. The plan places large-scale 5G-A deployment, 6G industrialization, and an integrated space-air-ground network on a unified timetable.

Key 2030 targets include: industry revenue reaching RMB 4.1 trillion; 50 5G (including 5G-A) base stations per 10,000 people; 5G user penetration of 95%; more than 320 million gigabit broadband users; and intelligent computing capacity of 9,800 EFLOPS.

During the period, China will build 500,000 new 5G-A base stations, enabling 10 Gbps downlink and 1 Gbps uplink peak rates in urban hotspots, with continuous 5G-A coverage at county level and above. The plan also promotes deep integration of satellite and terrestrial networks and large-scale direct satellite-to-phone connectivity.

For the cable industry, large-scale 5G-A construction will directly drive demand for RF coaxial feeders, jumpers, and in-building distribution systems, while satellite-terrestrial integration opens new space for low-loss, phase-stable RF cables and ground-station cables.
